Title: Senior Database Developer
Summary:
The Front Office Core Technology Database group works closely with other
Front Office and Middle Office IT application teams as well as Global
Infrastructure teams to develop high performance and highly available
database systems. Key responsibilities include developing and supporting
critical database systems for Fundamental Front Office IT, Converts, PCG,
Treasury, and compliance applications. You will also be expected to identify
opportunities where applications and businesses can leverage new
functionality in Sybase ASE, Sybase IQ, and Microsoft SQL Server database
management systems (DBMS) as well as new database technologies. You will
work closely with the application teams to design and develop high
performance and highly available database systems while utilizing your
infrastructure experience on these DBMS, data modeling skills, SQL
programming skills, application knowledge in C++, Python, and Java.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Design/implement OLTP and data warehouse database systems in a global
trading environment for performance and availability
Maintain/enhance existing database schemas using database modeling
software
Tune SQL on Sybase OLTP and data warehouse systems
Do SQL development, including views and stored procedures
Design/implement or assist with ETL type processing
Develop/maintain purging/archiving/index defrag and other database
maintenance scripts and reports
Research and Benchmark New Database technologies and platforms such as
NoSQL
Production release and support responsibilities
Qualifications:
Must have experience developing/designing/supporting databases as well
as applications on Sybase ASE 15.7, Microsoft SQL Server 2008 (or greater).
Must have experience developing/designing/supporting databases as well
as applications on Sybase IQ or experience with large databases. Sybase IQ
15.4 is preferred.
Experience with administering Sybase ASE, Sybase IQ, Sybase Replication,
and Microsoft SQL Server is a plus
Must have Linux (shell) and Perl or Python scripting experience
Understanding of Sybase Replication process.
Proficiency in Sybase Transact-SQL and ANSI SQL development.
Knowledge of database modeling tools and methodologies.
Knowledge of data access layers (ODBC, JDBC, and native Sybase Open
Client)
Knowledge of C++, C#, and development experience with application GUI’s
and servers is a plus
Experience with Sybase PowerDesigner and Proactive DBA is a plus.
Knowledge of Hadoop framework, MongoDB, or other NoSQL Databases is a
plus.
