Someone said that’s because I’m a dick. Whatever. But typing in Chinese is
not an easy thing if you are not trained, or if you cannot speak mandarin
well (for example, if you are from Guangdong). For example, if you want to
type in the word 拼音, as a Southerner you would be wondering is that
pingying, or pinyin, or pingyin, or pinying? Each time you get a long list
of choices and you have to spend time to go down the list and pick one.
Often the list does not include what you want, because you typed incorrectly
. At other times, your typing is fine, but your choice is not there (e.g.,
bohou gives you 薄厚 instead of 博后. Then you are forced to pick the wrong
words to avoid slowing down. Yes, for me, typing in Chinese is as slow as
snail. Perhaps I could spend time and get myself trained, first in speaking
mandarin and then in typing. But why bother? It’s not a worthy investment
of time. If you really want to call me a dick, go ahead. But I reject it if
that’s because I use English! Since it is widely apparent that many
Chinese cannot speak accurate Mandarin, anyone with any common sense would
not have much trouble understanding that typing in Chinese can be a
challenge! Btw, how do we call people without common sense? |
