The Kansas stamp celebrates 150 years of statehood for America’s 34th state. Featuring artwork by commercial and fine art painter Dean Mitchell, the stamp features the development of wind power technology prominently as part of the identity of Kansas. It includes early windmills pioneered in American in the mid-19th century along with modern-day wind turbines. The state now hosts 1,026 megawatts of wind generating capacity, one of just 14 states generating more than a gigawatt of wind energy.
