Developing a voice that is natural and true to you can be very
challenging, whether you identify as transmasculine, transfeminine, or
genderqueer/non-binary. Learn what it takes to successfully change your
voice/speech without surgery. We will discuss and practice some of the
key elements of feminine and masculine voice/speech, including a daily
vocal warm-up routine that involves relaxation, posture, breathing, and
vocalizing. Handouts provided.
Christie Block, MA, MS, CCC-SLP is a licensed and board-certified
Speech-Language Pathologist practicing in New York City. She has more
than 15 years of experience as a speech/voice trainer, university
instructor, and clinical specialist. She is a committed ally to the
transgender community, with her practice focused primarily on testing,
training, and vocal rehabilitation for transpeople. Christie provides
monthly voice feminization and masculinization workshops, and she is
currently developing biofeedback software for transgender people to
modulate pitch. She is a member of WPATH and the Columbia University-
based Working Group on Gender. |
