Marriage Equality & LGBT Community Report
Dear New Yorker,
For the first time ever, Gallup in a nationwide poll shows a majority of
Americans supporting marriage equality.
While this is extremely good news, we can't for a single moment waiver in
our fight for marriage equality. We must continue to build and organize and
keep this momentum strong.
Below are several actions that people can take to help ensure that marriage
equality becomes the law in NYS this year, as well as information about my
office's recent activities around marriage equality and other related issues.

NY BUSINESS FOR MARRIAGE
The Empire State Pride Agenda (ESPA) has launched a new online marriage
equality initiative aimed specifically at New York's business community
called NY Business for Marriage.
According to recent estimates, marriage equality could generate anywhere
from $184 million to $310 million in economic activity for weddings and
tourism in New York State.
NY Business for Marriage gives the business community a chance to tell the
public that what is good for equality is good for business! Activists
throughout the state are reaching out to businesses in their own backyards.
ESPA is encouraging all New Yorkers to take part in this exciting new
initiative by having their business or businesses in their area fill out the
form online.
For more information about NY Business for Marriage, please contact Desma
Holcomb at ESPA by phone at (212) 627-0305 or by e-mail dholcomb@prideagenda

't have gotten this far without you.
We still have a tough fight ahead of us, and I will continue to keep
everyone posted on additional actions and steps we can take to help make
sure we successfully pass marriage equality legislation in NYS this year.
In the meantime, please feel free to contact the City Council's LGBT and HIV
/AIDS Liaison, Carlos Menchaca, if you have any questions or would like to
learn more about our fight for marriage equality. You can reach him by

Thanks for taking a stand for marriage equality!
