With no offense to the OP's friend, but I have to question the original reason
that social work took their kid away from them? In most cases, it is due to
abuse and negligence. What if the DHCS has sufficent evidence to establish
that the child was abused badly even before they took him/her away and they
have done everything they can but still cannot save him/her?
