Ex-Wham singer George Michael dies

Singer George Michael has died aged 53, his publicist has said.
The star, who launched his career with Wham in the 1980s and later continued
his success as a solo performer, is said to have "passed away peacefully at
home".
Thames Valley Police said South Central Ambulance Service attended a
property in Goring in Oxfordshire at 13:42 GMT.
Police say there were no suspicious circumstances.
Michael, who was born Georgios Kyriacos Panayiotou in north London, sold
more than 100m albums throughout a career spanning almost four decades.
In a statement, the star's publicist said: "It is with great sadness that we
can confirm our beloved son, brother and friend George passed away
peacefully at home over the Christmas period.
"The family would ask that their privacy be respected at this difficult and
emotional time. There will be no further comment at this stage."

红极一时的英国二人组威猛乐队（Wham!）成员乔治·迈克尔（George Michael)在圣诞
节当天辞世，享年53岁。他的经纪人表示，乔治·迈克尔死于心脏衰竭。
乔治·迈克尔和威猛乐队轻盈抒情的歌声是80、90年代标志性的声音之一。他是格莱美
奖、全美音乐奖、全英音乐奖和 MTV 音乐录影带大奖等多项大奖得主，并创下全球唱
片销售超过1亿张的佳绩。
威猛乐队和中国也颇有渊源。1985年4 月，威猛乐队作为第一支西方流行乐队访问了中
国，在北京工人体育馆举行的演出座无虚席。当时中国对西方的音乐了解不多，不少报
道错误地把威猛乐队界定为一支摇滚乐队。因为担心演出会冷场，乐队经纪人还特意找
到歌手成方圆，请人重新填词后让她中文翻唱了威猛乐队的歌。
威猛乐队的演出为中国了解西方音乐世界打开了一扇窗。他们在中国的演出还被拍成了
一部纪录片——《威猛，外国的天空——1985 年中国演出现场》（Foreign Skies:
Wham! In China）。
朋友、同事和音乐人等都对乔治·迈克尔的去世表示了哀思。威猛乐队的另外一名成员
安德鲁·维治利（Andrew Ridgeley） 发推说，乔治·迈克尔的离去对自己、他所爱之
人、他的朋友、音乐界乃至整个世界都是令人心痛的损失。
乔治·迈克尔 1963 年 6 月 25 日出生于伦敦。他和安德鲁·维治利组成的威猛乐队
出道后迅速走红，首张专辑《Fantastic》一经推出很快就在英国的排行榜上名列第一
。第二张专辑中的单曲《Careless Whisper》把乐队的名号带到了大西洋的另一边。这
首萨克斯风情浓郁的情歌成为了他们在 80 年代留下的经典回响。
在乔治·迈克尔发现自己希望做更多成熟音乐的想法与威猛乐队定位青少年受众发生冲
突后，他选择自己发展。单飞后的乔治·迈克尔成就不减，个人第一张专辑《Faith》
在英美专辑榜双双登顶。比打榜成绩更重要的是，这张专辑如愿展示出了乔治·迈克尔
成熟深刻的一面。专辑的作词、编曲和制作都由他一手包办，曲风涵盖爵士、节奏蓝调
、摇滚等多钟风格，歌曲主题也包罗万象。
不过，创作之外的一系列事件之后把乔治·迈克尔拉离了音乐的轨道。
在《Faith》红火后，乔治·迈克尔希望自己能够超越歌手的身份而成为一名音乐创作
人。他对作品更多控制权的谋求导致了他和所属的索尼唱片公司的不合。乔治·迈克尔
一度在长达六年时间内没有发新专。
1998 年 4 月，乔治·迈克尔因公共猥亵罪名被便衣警察抓捕。此案以乔治·迈克尔不
承认有罪也不抗辩作结。之后，乔治·迈克尔发行音乐录影带《Outside》讽刺事件，
录影带中有两名男警察接吻的画面。再之后，乔治·迈克尔公开出柜。
2006 年，乔治·迈克尔因持违禁药物在伦敦被捕。这是他一系列与禁药相关事件的开
端。他生涯后期充分展示出了贯穿一生的我行我素的性格。他 2007 年在采访中说道：
“我不想要小孩，我不想要责任。我是同性恋，我抽大麻，我可以做我想做的一切，因
为我有才华。”
乔治·迈克尔在 2000 年后放缓了创作的节奏，他生前最后一张录音室专辑《Patience
》是在 2004 年发行的。他在近年开始鼓励更多的人参与到慈善事业中。

faith开始倒是特写那个十字架耳环。我觉得奇怪的是如果他是虔诚教徒，那不该像上
面那段中文新闻里那么自我标榜我行我素？或者他前期我行我素，后来渐入宗教？
