NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) -- Despite concerted government-led and lender-
supported efforts to prevent foreclosures, the number of filings hit a
record high in the third quarter, according to a report issued Thursday.

too many ppl are stuck with their mortgages now.
i'm working in a debt consolidation company now, and we're in never-so-good
business these days.
the fact is simple: fewer jobs now, and ppl are not making more than 10
years ago (statistical data). there's no fuel for housing to go up at all.

1) the most aggressive housing gamblers have been wiped out in last 3 years
(just like the above 坐以待毙VS迎难而上 mentioned).
for them, the pain is strong and quick, then over. either they run away with
bank cash or banks get bailed out by gov.
2) now it hurts most for those relatively conservative or mainstream buyers,
who bought houses during last 5 years. most of them are actually underwater
(quite some friends of mine, and include myself if i have to sell quickly
today

be 8k lower than now on avg? doubt, unless tons of foreclosure dumped into
the mkt? (in some area, it will be the case).
the thing that I concern is the rate will go higher, gov has to fight the
inflation.
So, my personal opinion is time is decent for buyer target at mid-lower end
house.
(no too much room to drop more and 8k a big chunk of the total price)
For high end house, there will be more hit.

about DC area.
on the MD side, i'd say we're back to 2003, so it's definitely more than 10%
and in the neighborhood of 20% from peak.
yeah, we're luckily covered by a lot of gov. jobs in this area, but still,
everything has its maximum reach.
