My kid legal name is his Chinese name, but a lot of tests he took like SAT
using his English name, let alone his high school academic report. Now he is
going to apply for college, then the legal name is an issue.
There must be some families had the similar issue before, any suggestion how
we resolve it or we have to add his English name as legal na | w*******g

for your son?
It is their responsibility to correct the names. I am not sure about SAT
score.
Anyway, you as a parent is really careless.
Even if you change your legal name, there could be other host of problems.
Maybe include an also-known-as name will help.

发帖数: 983 | 3 It is very easy to resolve. I just went through this. You can put his
English name as first name, his Chinese name as his middle name.
You and your son need to go to district court to apply for name change.
First you will go to district court to file application for name change and
pay for about $200+ fees.
Then they will schedule appointment for you and your son to meet the judge.
You need to bring the notarized document ( the district court will tell you
what document that you need to bring). | c********t

That's easy? seem like pretty complicated, I know that I can do through
court. probably the only way?

First file the application and pay the fee
Second to meet the judge and get the petition signed.
After you get the petition, you can do rest at your own pace. I basically
scan the document and email the school and the college board.
I am not sure what passport your son has. You and your son may need to go to
the post office to get new passport.
Then you may need a trip to get new SS card. That's it.
You can finish these in one week, or it may take a couple of

I believe the SSN and passport can be done later,
as it is no needed immediately.
as long as name got officially change, that's good.
mainly for college application.

发帖数: 983 | 7 Maybe you can schedule the appointment the next day after you get the
application filed. But make sure that your son will go with you. Usually the
appointment is around 9am in our area.
When we filed our application, my son was still in school. So I had to wait
for his school holiday and not the government holiday so the court is open.
That's why it took us longer time.
