发帖数: 34403 | 1 A 2-month-old boy with head injuries slipped into a coma at a hospital and
his father has been charged, sheriff’s officials said.
The parents brought the young child to Loma Linda University Medical Center
on Aug. 3 because he was suffering seizures, vomiting and had uncontrollable
limb movement, a San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department news release
stated.
Hospital staff moved the baby into the pediatric intensive care unit, where
they discovered a severe brain injury causing blood to pool in the brain
cavity and depriving the infant’s brain of oxygen.
Hospital staff called the Sheriff’s Department on about 10 a.m. Aug. 6.
Investigators interviewed the parents and determined the father, 32-year-old
Weifeng Tang, shook the victim violently on two separate occasions, the
release stated.
The father delayed taking the child to a hospital for two days, causing the
2-month-old to suffer oxygen deprivation , which caused irreparable damage
to his brain, the release said. The child has slipped into a coma. The long-
term effects of the injuries are unknown, the release stated.
Tang was arrested on Thursday in the 10900 block of Terra Vista Parkway in
Rancho Cucamonga and booked into the West Valley Detention Center on
suspicion of child abuse with great bodily injury resulting in putting a
child younger than 8 in a coma. He was being held in lieu of $2 million bail
, booking logs show.
He is scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday.
Both Tang and the child’s mother were citizens of China who came to the U.S
. to give birth to the 2-month-old, their second child.
