Thousands of United States citizens exercising their lawful right to freedom
of assembly, speech, and, ultimately, vote, were harassed and in many cases
assaulted outside a peaceful rally for Presumptive Republican Nominee
Donald J. Trump.
Mayor Sam Liccardo, instead of condemning this violence, blamed it on Donald
Trump and his supporters. Since when have words justified the use of
violence? Mayor Liccardo is a former prosecutor who should never justify
this despicable behavior. Political beliefs are irrelevant in this regard.
No citizen of the Unites States should feel threatened for expressing his or
her opinion or attending a lawful, political rally.
These were not peaceful protestors. They were rioters and criminals who
preyed on the peaceful. That an elected official, sworn to uphold the law,
would condone this behavior is a disgrace to any nation that believes in
rule of law.
Mayor Sam Liccardo, resign before you do more damage to your city, state, or
this great nation. | l***n
