chains. They use lamda-DNA(which is random coded) as sample to test
the conductivity. Conclusion they draw is that DNA is basically insulate.
I will list the papers she mentioned in her talk to show the debate on
this issue in later post.
Some conclusions they got,
1. if DNA chain is shorter, it may be conductive(less than 400nm)
2. CG pair tends to be more conductive
3. They developed a new way to measure the resistivity of na |

Did they synthesize the shorter DNA chain to verity that?
Hoe more? Is the difference significant?

why " may be"?
sounds really interesting.
I also learned DNA is insulative, but it could be conducitve if doped with
some metallic ions. Unfortunately, the measurements can be questionable. How
can that "pretty cool" tool give them the right data physically?

They are physicists so they basically can only buy commercial available
DNAs. This is why they use lamda-DNA but not DNAs only have CG pairs.
It would be interesting if biologists who are capable of making specified
DNAs repeat their experiments. Their way of testing the conductability is
very cool.

See my previous post. :-)
There is no definite conclusion whether DNA is conductive or insulative.
Different research groups in the world give all kinds of results. Well, some
of them even say that DNA is superconductive under Tc of 3K. The debate will
go on, you know, until a final conclusion is drawn.
