real applications are still far away. An interesting thing is people know
little about how dangerous these materials are to humans. The first account of

the first paper dealing with the cyctotoxicity of them.
The creatation of nanometer-sized material based devices is also really tough,
if not harder than biological application. However, if t

The paper you mentioned is by Warren Chan, if I am correct.
After the 2 landmark papers in 1998, there were little progress in this area,
using QDs for bio-labelling. as I mentioned in my previous post, the two
papers in nature technology recently should be sth breakthrough.
Qds have bring ppl so much pleasure so that it will be a really pity if it
only be a toy.
on the other hand, I agree with you, I have a feeling that nanodevice is eve

QDs have many fold applications, although may not be so important...
what come to my mind instantly is it can be used as sensors... after all, its
optics is closely related to their enviroment.

| f**********e 发帖数: 236 | 8 What's your point? Am I wrong somewhere? Sorry I did not cite your papers, but
I really do not know where they are.
Another comment is the "nano" I talked about is in the 2-10 nm range, 20 nm at
top, just because the quantum effect is effective only in that or even smaller
range. Not those several 100 "nano"particles.

Good point! You can see some successful collabrations, such as Bawendi and
Mattoussi. Although now Mattoussi makes his own DQs.
