Lefschetz喜欢找茬在数学界是很有名的，有一次在Notre
Dame开了一个微分方程的讨论会，有一个工程师讲的十分乏
味，也许从数学家的角度来看都是一些琐碎的细节，报告结
束后，Lefschetz站起来提问时说“你认为所有工程师都是
傻瓜吗？”（Lefschetz原先就是位工程师，在一次事故中
被炸掉双手后才改行学数学）
其实Lefschetz也不是只会欺负小人物，有一次Einstein，
Lefschetz和Hodge在princeton的小餐馆吃饭，Einstein说
princeton这地方好是好，就是每次上街时都会有很多人追着
要签名，这时Lefschetz凑上去对Einstein说：“Einstein
教授，我有一个好办法解决这个问题”，Einstein赶紧问是
什么好办法，“cut your hair”
