不知道有没有专门针对gaussian的名词。
看看这篇，好象gaussian的不好算

But LZ's question is about i.i.d normal distribution, which, I think does
have close form distribution.
Consider the cdf:
Prob( max(X1,...,Xn)<= a) = Prob(X1<=a)*Prob(X2<=a)*...Prob(Xn<=a)
= normalCDF(a)^n
where normalCDF is the cdf of standard normal distribution. Therefore,
pdf of max can be obtained by taking derivative:
n*normalCDF(a)^(n-1)*normalPDF(a)
Hope I got this right.
