according to FA for match book, 100 is a good and lucky number.
But I just talked to my friend who is in his second year of residency. He
said we really shouldn't apply so many programs. Besides the expensive cost,
applying too many programs can also make program directors think that we
are not confident. Of course, he is AMG and I know we are in the different
situation. For AMGs, when they apply for 20 programs, they can | k**********n
发帖数: 438 | 2 Yes, you do need to apply a lot of program, IM, 100 is reasonable, assuming
you graduated more than 10yrs. If you are more fresh, less than 100 is OK,
and even some university programs may give you a chance. However, community
programs are still our major target.
You may not need to apply more than 100 for a second specialty. Remember,
dual specialty application means double your workload accordingly. | f*****w

If I apply nation wide, there are tons of IM programs. Apparently I can't
apply all of them. So, how do I choose which programs I should go for. I
know I will get top programs out of my selection, but even for community-
based programs, there are still too many. when people make selections, are
they only based on locations? Or there is any other aspects we need to
consider? I did some research on the internet but couldn't tell which one is
better than others just from the i | k**********n
发帖数: 438 | 4 General speaking, programs in the in the northeast have more compatibility/
experience with FMGs. I would roughly use mississippi river as a cut off,
programs 100 miles beyond it to the west barely offer IV to CMGs. California
may offer few, but muchhhhhhhh less than northeast.
You guys really need to read through JHQ, there are tons information there,
and many questions have been answered.

applied 200, the other one applied 160 IM programs all over the US. One of
them got 12 interviews, the other one got 20 interviews. How much do you
want to apply?
I also met some AGM during my OB. One of them applied 45 OBGYN program,
which according to herself, was way more than her classmates. Usually they
apply 20, get 10 interviews and go the top 5 programs to interview. We can
not follow their guidance.:) | g*********9

Yeah, my fiend is AMG so I guess we are not on the same page. then I guess I
do need to apply as many as I can but I also need to think about the
finiacial issues and locations. I can't just apply every single programs.
Too many IM programs in US, I guess. I did message you a question on
facebook. If you have time to look at it, I really appreciate.
