标 题: 请教:关于Forensic Pathologist职业要求及如何准备

各位前辈，大家好：
我是国内医学院临床医学专业本科毕业生，出于对法医学的喜爱，我在医院工作了一年
后考入了法医专业的博士。由于在读博士期间对公安法医有了一定的了解，发现国内的法医工作和
自己想象地相去甚远，所以就出国做了博士后（心血管生理研究）。
我目前的情况是：1）.今年30多一点，绿卡已经解决；2).家庭比较稳定，老婆也在工
作；3）.已经开始复习了一段时间的Step1，感觉已经学进去了、很有动力。
对于未来的专业选择，我是肯定报病理科，而且还是想首选法医病理。我看了网上的一
些关于Forensic Pathologist职业的介绍，基本上是先做4年的病理residency，然后再
考Forensic Pathologist的fellowship，经过几年培训后，参加考试通过后就可以正式
工作了。
但是由于自己对美国的法医病理专业很陌生，所以想向各位请教以下几个问题:
1）.这种Forensic Pathologist的fellowship的多么？考试竞争激烈么？
2）.这种Forensic Pathologist的就业前景如何？工作辛苦么？社会地位如何？薪水如何（看到网上说的是一般7.5-12万/年）？
3）.从现在开始，除了复习考试以外，我还应该怎样准备呢？比如可不可以跟着
Forensic Pathologist见习？这种见习对于后来的match有帮助么？
4）.由于我的老板要move到另一个城市，所以我很有可能要换一个工作，那么那一种实验室的工作经验会有助于以后Forensic Pathologist的resident的申请呢？

employee usually), citizenship needed and language requirement is very high
because medical examiner should testify in the court and communicate with

Forensic path fellowship positions are not competitive. you only need to be
in a pathology residency program (usually on your 3rd to 4th year training )
to apply for that.no exam needed.

you need apply for a pathology residency program inorder to do apply for
forensic fellowship, so work in a pathology related area might be helpful. | i**********d

program. Lousy one very easy to get.
google FREIDA to check how many programs available
2. You can do AP only or AP/CP. The pay is very good, even NYC felowship
paid $90,000 (in 2005)
3. forensic medicine is a very tricky profession. In some states, belong to
medical examiner office, some states belong to coronal office, some are
appointed and some are publically elected. Minimum $140,000 plus court fees,
you can easily get > 200,000. The extra money come from serving as expert
witness. $300k or even 400K is probably the mid range salary after 10-15 yrs
in the field
4. In the cities, The job is extremely nasty, not like in the movies. You
have to deal with dead bodies all the time, and called away during the night
. You have to travel to rural areas to dig the bodies. Harrassed by defense
lawyers. Very few FMG can survive as a real forensic pathologist.
5. The alternative way is be an autopsy pathologist in academic center with
some backup forensic duty. You will have lower salary but easy life
