我的理解是，director 有决定权，招与不招。 coordinator就是给director打下手的
，发个email,回答个问题。

absolute right to say who is in or out per say. For large size university
based program, Chair is very busy with a lot of more important stuff.
Resident recruitment is totally up to PD. PD will glean the suggestions from
other faculties and residents, and then decide your ranking. Finally, PD
will debrief the chair. In a smaller size program, the resident recruitment
is usually a big deal to the entire department. Usually, chair will
interview each candidate. Chair and PD will sit down and discuss the ranking
of each candidate. PD is responsible to gather other people 's opinions.Any
smear in the CV or interview will lead to an unfavorable rankings but will
not completely destroy you since nobody is perfect. In some community based
programs, PD is the chair. So it is hard to say. | j*********u
