我来说几句，关于这个IV/rejection list.
希望每一位今年申请的同学都能参与进来，随时汇报自己的进展，汇报时请说出
program的名字。这样做有两个目的：第一，方便别人，给别人提供信息。比如说我苦
苦等待的某个program一直没有消息，看到别人汇报也能缓解自己的痛苦。第二，拿到
同一个program的同学如果愿意也可以私下互相交流。
确实，汇报IV/rejection更多的是给别人提供信息，但是大家要学会帮助别人，珍惜帮
助别人的机会。人的一生是短暂的，不要只做对自己有利的事情。特别是有实力条件好
的同学，因为上天给了你超乎常人的实力，其实也期盼你能承担更多的责任。
如果你愿意汇报但是又想保持低调，请考虑把你的进展发给我或者其他版主。我们把它
转贴出来，同时一定给你保密。或者你们每个match互助组的组长代表整个组汇报自己
的进展。
这个帖子需要每一位今年申请的同学来参与。每一个人都不要等别人，不要和别人比精
明。courtesy is contagious and it begins with you!

Application Requirements
Baystate's Pathology Residency Program requires:
•USMLE scores: Score of 85 or higher on Step 1 & 2, with no more than
1 fail/attempt.
•Graduation from Medical School: Must be within the past five (5)
years.
•Clinical Experience: Does not include observership within past two (2
) years.
•Visa: J-1
H-1B accepted only with:
- approval from Residency Program Director
- approval from Sr. VP of Academic Affairs
- must have USMLE steps 1, 2, & 3.
•Photo
•ECFMG Certification
•All residency candidates must fulfill Baystate Resident Appointment
Requirements.

of Medicine
My GOY is >5 years and < 10 years, looks like they do use <5 year to
screen.
So don't waste money on it if you have not applied yet.

I have more than one criteria that does not fit their standard including
graduation year, seems in your case, it is graduation year.

Which program is SUNY downstate?

State Univ of NY at Brooklyn, in a terrible neighborhood with high crime in
brooklyn of NY city. Downstate is famous for its training because residents
can do lot of clinical work without much supervision because most patients
are black and poor without insurance. Lot of programs are quite arrogant
and don't take residents who graduate more than 10 years.

去早, 几率大, 但来不及看别的. 去晚,pre-match会发完.
你那10月底部11月初时间段应该留给最想去的program.
如果是我,就用10/21或更早去练手.主攻后面更好的. .
贴一下USMLE, YOG, 有无PHD, 文章或科研.慌看看要不要急着把自己贱卖了.

我的creds: 99/99/pass,YOG >10 yrs, US PhD在读，准备明年毕业。有个US的book
chapter,Poster 若干，AACR上做过一个oral presentation (是我老板让给我讲得），
国内有几篇1st author paper, 美国这边还木有呢。没有病理OB。

2000年前（汗～～），有GC。
毕业后读了一个内科master,当时做了一些小打小闹的科研，然后国内干过几年内科，
然后就是美国这边PhD.

you have a good chance of getting into a bigger program based on your
package. Almost all the big programs have a huge opening this year. But it
is not the end of the world if you go to a smaller one, fellowship training
is more important for your future career path.

Your information is right, but the interpretation may not be quite right. A
lot of program mention percentile, but they actually do not mean it. They
just mean the 2 digit score. Since lots of people misunderstand the 2 digit
score as percentile.

Who has any inside information? Why did they send out rejection right after

严重同意！7个面试者加上咖啡妹妹，麻将都够两桌了。大家一起好好努力呀，怎么也要在6个spots里拿上3个offer，就可以把牌桌长久的支在 Boston 了 !! LOL
按1：10 的比例， program 里大约会给60 个面试，在此公布的中国人就占了7个。衷心感谢Boston现在和以前的那些中国住院医，他们的表现一定非常出色，否则program不会对中国CMG如此open!! 我们是受了他们“前人掘井”的积福了。

you are lazy, even though I have no doubt you will be a hard worker. You can
ask what the oncall schedule is like instead.
In general, try to ask questions that residents can answer: are you happy
with the teaching? Are the attendings nice? I read xxx's publication, looks
like the program has a strong research presence, are you guys involved? I
want to do reseach, and I have done xxxxx.

heard AMG also interested in Pathology too, unlike what I thought. In fact,
Pathology is very competitive. Experience or connection weighs more if no
extreme impressive scores.

I thought you had some IV from IM ...
From what I heard that # of AMG applicants this year is less than last year,
and a lot of big programs have " huge' number of positions ( > 12) due to
uneven distribution of residents slots across the 4 years ( 5-12)
Even we could not go the top tier, but those make more room for us in the
middle tier programs.....
stay positive ! keep practice !! we need make the shot with even only 1 IV

heard AMG also interested in Pathology too, unlike what I thought. In fact,
Pathology is very competitive. Experience or connection weighs more if no
extreme impressive scores. later

I thought less AMG applied this year...However,I was told by the PD from my
first interview place that national wide >360 AMG and >600 IMG applied for
2012 pathology residency and the available position is ~510. Last year, ~280
AMG and >500 IMG applied.......I was very surprised! Not sure if it is true

我只申请了病理，原因：
1。国内病理硕博连读。
2。国内两年普外经验。
3。十几年科研。
共申了111个，未申的：
1。加州。
2。太小太偏又明确说明不要十年以上的。
关于写信：
我给十几个好地方但不要十年以上的写了信，大多数发给了PC,因为怕遭PD烦。我认为
至少有三个把我的信转给了PD，一个在收到我的信27分钟后就拒了，我认为是PC自作主
张。但是我写信的地方都没来邀请。subject 是按实验室美国人的建议写的：RE: xxx
写信向's application status.
我研究了2008年的旧帖，共列出50+ programs 给中国人发出邀请，今年可能不会有那
么好的成绩。
问题：
下面那个排名是根据什么呀？

我来说几句，关于这个IV/rejection list.
希望每一位今年申请的同学都能参与进来，随时汇报自己的进展，汇报时请说出
program的名字。这样做有三个目的：第一，方便别人，给别人提供信息。比如说我苦苦等待的某个program一直没有消息，看到别人汇报也能缓解自己的痛苦。第二，拿到同一个program的同学如果愿意也可以私下互相交流。第三，有同样面试的住院医也可以给你讲点他们原来面试的经验。
确实，汇报IV/rejection更多的是给别人提供信息，但是如果每个人都能来汇报的话，大家就都能够从中受益。而且，大家要学会帮助别人，珍惜帮助别人的机会。人的一生是短暂的，不要只做对自己有利的事情。特别是有实力条件好的同学，因为上天给了你超乎常人的实力，其实也期盼你能承担更多的责任。
如果你愿意汇报但是又想保持低调，或者有其它的顾虑，请考虑把你的进展发给我或者其他版主。我们把它转贴出来，同时一定给你保密。或者你们每个match互助组的组长代表汇报自己整个组的进展。
这个帖子需要每一位今年申请的同学来参与, 每一个人都不要等别人。

很强的背景，超好的分数，怪不得有那么多好面试。
我个人认为从经验上讲： Path PhD (USA & China) 》Path practice in china》externship》OB
我共申了119个，未申的：
1。加州。
2。太大太好又坚决不要90分以下的：）
我的分数害了自己。。。。。。。
因为是拿钱排名的（最后的column ），我觉得排名的依据应该是拿到得research grants, 而且可能是 NIH grants, since it is not easy to calculate the grants from all private foundations ....

下面那个排名是根据什么呀？

12-12-2011: IV from SUNY at stony brook, specified the IV date ( 12-20-2011)
, so this must be a canceled IV spot from somebody else
Although i have to call to cancel this IV, it is encouraging that if you
keep a good contact with the program you still could get some the canceled
IV spots

It may not be a canceled date. They did the same thing to me, 12/02/11, I
said no. then they said 12/09/11. I asked a date in January instead and it
was approved.
I don't know if you want to ask it back.
