年终于成功match, 深深为他们锲而不舍的精神所感动。悲的是，轮到自己了，该怎么
办？很鸭梨山大。
由于我晚到了几分钟，第一位speaker ， Pathology（oldray?）没太来得及记录。
1） talk to others
2） Do not be aggressive
3） Ask, not just assume
4） Follow the rules, like HAPPA
5） Watch more slides ( for study purpose)
6） Group study
7） 别吊儿郎当（忘了这是原话还是我自己的理解。Oldray is 北京人？）
8） Good intern: polite,让人放心
第二位speaker Dr. Ruan, Psychiatry PGY-2. 她的讲话要点是：
1） 什么样的人适合做psych? 能handle好stress/mood;
2） Like reading
3） Lifestyle of psychiatry: OK, intern life is less stressful than IM;
pay is decent (maybe lower than IM specialist) 我的理解就是性价比很好的一个
program;
4） 要多接触社会学；通过交流获得病史；对语言/沟通能力要求高；
5） 兴趣
6） Psychiatry在最近十年是获得突飞猛进的一门学科；也是一门很有发展前途的
学科；
7） 容易做fellow
8） 如何提高语言：要靠日积月累；a) rip DVD to MP3 and listen to it while
driving/commuting; b) ESL podcast; C) find a language tutor;
我偶尔听Dr.Ruan秀了几句英语，确实很地道；
9） 申请前3件事： OB; Step3; Language
The 3rd speaker: Dr. Sun: Match to Patho this year
1) DO OB, write to PD
2) Prepare recommendation letter in advance
3) Draft PS: the first para can be a summary of yourself;
4) Prepare MSPE, transcript. Some pg may need it in the interview
The 4th speaker Dr. Qiu: YOG 21 year; match to Pathology this year
1) 靠自己建立connection;
2) 自己的事情要主动
3) 联系自己local program的PD; PS and one page summary in one email;
(求这个one page summary的draft sample)
4) show passion/commitment by doing OB—OB longer duration like a day a
week for a year is better than doing just a whole month
5) tell the PD what you learned during OB |

，不时穿插讲解，让听众受益良多。
He mainly talks about intern life in the first year.

From day 1: long-term goal?
-what is your dream?
What is your passion?
Are you willing to try hard?
Don’t just do it for match, everything is linked, add it to CV;
Do it—do not look back, don’t dwell in the past;
Work smart and work hard
Don’t think about percentage, if you tried—will not regret later

发帖数: 492 | 6 第九位speaker是麦地家属，居然是麦地的创始人老帮主。以一句“嫁鸡随鸡，嫁狗随
狗，嫁给医生就要跟她走”开场白惹得大家哈哈大笑。他为大家介绍了medical
dosimetry program--decent salary, 就业前景良好；大家可以考虑back-up， 不过申
请也很competitive; mainly work with computer in the office, calculate the
dose for radiation therapy for cancer pts;
不知不觉5个多小时过去了，会后Houston当地的同学聚餐腐败。我们外地的为了往家赶
，只好跳上汽车沿着I45，驶进了茫茫的黑夜…. |
