估计他们之前已经把我打入被据的名单中，所以才没找到我的申请材料。我如果没给他
们联系，估计就这样不明不白地死了。现在还不知道结果怎样，但至少给自己争取多一
次机会。PS：这是个特例，只是给大家一点启示。不鼓励人人都去骚扰PC，她们现在忙
死了。

Congrats...But it is usually a sharp decrease in value. To me, it simply
sounds like a courtesy interview. But anyway, it is good move. Sometimes,
some middle size university based programs offer interviews to anyone who
works in or lives nearby. It is due to geographic advantages. However,
anyone who receives such kind of interview should have a better view of
yourself. Try to answer the questions honestly:
Do they really like me or single me out based on paper?
What types of connections I have?
If you have a vague answer about both questions, sadly enough, it is simply
courtesy interview.
If you were invited to make a presentation or observership, you have more
chances but no guarantee.
If you just worked in the department, you have 50% chance in.
If you worked in the department and heavily recommended by an American MD,
you are almost in.

It might be a so-called courtesy interview.
But I heard a similar story with a good end.
Several years ago, an old CMG with 200/200 score and got an interview from a
top 10 university hospital in the similar way. The CMG called the program
and stole one interview slot. Everyone told the CMG that it was just a
courtesy interview. The CMG went there as the only foreign graduate among
the interviewee. Amazing enough, the CMG got in to the program through match
. Those co-resident of this CMG are from WashU, Uof Michigan, Cornell, etc.
Everyone was so surprised to see an old Chinese graduate standing among them

You never know what will happen. Be yourself and present the best of you to
the interviewer.
No program will waste a slot just for courtesy interview. You must have
something special for them! Grab the opportunity if you can.

I knew somebody who came to the US at age 52 and got matched into a very
good program. He soon became a leader of his group.
The application is a whole package. Honestly, age is a disadvantage which
we could not change. But we have more research experience, more clinical
experience, more connections, or better social skills. Who cares the
interview is got from connections or not, if you can get it, it is still
your ability. Match is the ultimate goal.

With more life experience, you understand better about the human nature,

本来想等面试都结束后，再写一个详细的面经。现在有人点名了，我就先大致说一下面
试的感受。
首先，感谢麦地里无私奉献热情提携后进的前辈们。前一阵看到一个帖子吐槽中国医生
不爱帮助同胞，我的经历证明那个帖子是完全错误的。我之前的两个面试的program里
都有中国住院医，请谅解我不提他/她们的名字。其中一个program的住院医看到我在麦
地的帖子后，主动留言说周末给我打电话，并在电话里非常详细地解答了我的种种问题
。另一个program的住院医看到我在Linkedin里的留言，马上给我打电话并介绍了面试
的一个必考题目，使我准备面试能有的放矢。请留意“主动”“马上”“必考”这些关
键字，没有一颗关爱同胞的心，你能期待有人这样做吗？
其次，个人也要开放，有面试是好事，不要掖着藏着。之前有一位前辈说过公布了你的
面试program,只会对你有好处，我的经历就是一个明证。
至于面试本身，都是常规问题。Tell me about your self/why back to clinical/why
this specialty/why our program/tell me about your research/how to integrate
into our program/any plan to go back to china/questions bout hobbies/what
is your usmle score/pass in first attempt (主动解释了为什么CS fail一次）。
what did you learn about American culture算是一个不太常规的问题吧。
面试时要精神饱满，有热情，语速别太快，口齿清楚。
