i have finished my cs just 2 hours ago.like my any test in the life, all i
feel is "done!", i can move to other part of my life again.
people on this website do share lots of information and we all benefit from
them. so i didn't feel any unexpectations. i haven't waste any part of my
practice before the exam. my performance was normal according to my
knowledge and level. i only had one case was overtime during the encounter
part and had to out of the room at the middle of the physical exam, which i
quite enjoy my performance on neuro exam and forgot the time.
the problem of me was some names of medication and surgery, i can't get them
very well and can't spell them rightly. so i use some other words to take
place. not quite sure if it is ok.sp's were so nice, they just want to gave you as
more informations as you want.i never forgot to ask "do you want to add any
information which i have not asked you", they were so kind to provide some
important informations i forgot. i like them so much.
i prepare very well with my dress, but eventually i forgot to take my stethoscope
with me. but no problem, test center borrow one for me.but recommend you carry your
own one.
my experiences:
1. practice with partners is definitely important. if you can find a native
english speaker, that will be perfect.but not necessary.the best method should be
practicing every case like real test, that means patient encounter, then use
computer to write your patient notes immediately after encounter. that is a
completed
practice for each one, don't try to save time or make this simple, you will find
that will be the most efficient way to prepare cs.
2. haven't attend any course or lectures.but some videos of cs do help me a lot.i
didn't feel any uncomfortable with the real test cause it just exactly as the video
showed.even i haven't touch any real person before the test.
3. minicases in fa are very important,and i do review it twice and very
important for your patient notes writing.
4. i have no partners available during the 2 weeks before my test, i just
review minicases and never had a practice with any live partners. i think it
is fine, but if you can have one to practice, you will be better.
5. the last not the least: when test, only thing need to focus is "focus". time
flies so fast, you can't realize it, just do focused history and focused physical
exam and focused patient notes.
now, me, like every others, don't know the results of the test, but there is
no feeling of disappointment. i feel ok, not superb, nor distress.
hope we all will get through all these exam as we expected.also, i feel this test
is just a piece of cake for american students.too easy for them.
my computer can't be typed capital case right now at the airport, sorry for that.
