need candidates to report previous interviewing in their program. Will that
hurt? If they ask why not match? what's the best answer for that,

. It does not hurt if you answer them with honest and respect.
You may say something like, the family reason,living reason,other non-
academic reasons to response. Or, you may say, you received couple offers
last year and chose one most close by your living place.

them again this year, and received IV from them. If I told the I didn't
match last year, which may remind them that probably last year, I didn't get
ranked or whatever. So I am still not very sure about the purpose of their
awareness about interviewing with them previously. |

factors contributed to the sucess. you may say, you were not quite ready
enough last year,but still interested in your program when i applied this
time. ...say some nice words to flatter this program....

if you play it right. Why not match? You don't have to rank all the program
you interviewed if you know you are not going to be there. Family reason
can always be used as an excuse for not rank a program and change your mind
