condition cannot be counted as pre-existing (per Health Insurance
Portability and Accountability Act of 1996).
Otherwise, you can still check with the company to see if your condition
counts as "pre-existing" by their definition.

我其实一直有保险的，是学校的group保险。
看过医生，发现身体有一些方面有点问题。
现在出去工作了，所以要转到公司保险。
可是公司的保险不是group的。
我填了我以前的pre-existing condition，结果他们就说不cover这些。
好烦啊！
从保险角度看，我一直没有GAP。 |

发帖数: 4445 | 4 You checked that they are excluding it permanently, or is it just a set
exclusion period (e.g. 6 months)? In the latter case, you can pay yourself
for related treatments till the period ends.

我check了，是一直不cover,而不是什么6个月之类的等待期。
一个保险的agent跟我说individual insurance就是这样的，它可以选择不cover pre-
existing conditions。
我是第一次听你说有这样一条法令。
不过你能给出具体的出处吗？
我没找到这样的语句在 Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act
of 1996 |

If you are HIPAA eligible, they cannot turn you down for insurance based on
pre-existing conditions. Not sure whether they have to cover this specific
condition though. Maybe you should check with your employer's HR benefit
people to find out.
