let me summarize the whole thing for those who are new here:
the lab rule: “don’t believe everything Chinaman says” set by the ucsd
professor immediatelly reminds me of two facts:
1. chinese government lies everyday, both to chinese and the whole world.
2. scholars in China write lots of fake paper and make up fake data, which
are frequently exposed on a very famous Chinese website http://www.xys.org.
some chinese from mitbbs.com, where chinese and chinese international
students get together, try to use that lab rule as an excuse (racisim and
discrimination), to attack ucsd and the professor, and attempt to destroy
the freedom of speech in usa.
it is very ironic that chinese do not have the guts to protest their
dictatorial governemnt against all the discrimination and unfairness that
happened in china every day, they do have passion to turn a trivial thing
into a big subject matter in usa. It is not the first time that “Chinaman”
causes debation in usa, many foreigners and native english speaker may not
be able to properly intepret the meaning of “Chinaman”. UCSD and the
professor have already apolozied, but it appears that Chinese from
mitbbs.com are never satisfied and tried to take more action to show how
powerful they are.
on mitbbs.com, there are full of offensive words against Indian
people/student and Black people, but no one there feel uncomfortbale or
inappropriate with that. While Chinese feel “chinaman” offensive, many
Chinese on mitbbs.com are very comfortbale to give offensive names to Indian
people/studnet and Black people. I am very angry that they use double
standard to judge “racisim and discrimination”. I also feel ashamed that
they can overreact on trivial matters and ignore more important matters in
their own country.
also, it needs to be mentioned that Mitbbs.com is potentially controlled by
chinese government because lots of posts with anti-freedom, anti-
capitalism,anti-usa,inti-indian,inti-chinese female married to foreigner can
be found on that website.
Finally, I call for those who love freedom of speech in USA, please forward
this post to your fellow students(in particular, Indian/Black
student),colleagues,major US media news, let the US public judge and vote
for this event. For chinese who have read my post, please post it on
mitbbs.com (my id has not been activated yet). For those who worried about
national security/discrimination, forward this to FBI,CIA,NSA. Thanks |
