Herman Cain, the Republican presidential candidate some described as the Tea
party favorite, has responded to the big Republican loss by talking about
forming a third party because of the party's inability to "re-brand itself."
But he does not want a third party that offers a real alternative to the
welfare state, rather one that is more "conservative." Conservative in the
sense of preserving the bad ideas of the current Republican and Democrat
Parties, making the whole agenda pointless.
Herman Cain appeared on Bryan Fischer's radio show today to make his not-so-
bold proposal for a third party. "I never thought that I would say this, and
this is the first time publicly that I've said it: We need a third party to
save this country. Not Ron Paul and the Ron Paulites. No. We need a
legitimate third party to challenge the current system that we have." The
only Republican candidate who proposed any challenge to the curren system
was Ron Paul, and yet this is precisely who Mr. Cain does not think can "
save this country." Paul actually proposed $1 trillion in cuts his first
year in office - a serious proposal to challenge the current system of
unlimited spending and prodigious budgets.
Cain is a loyal Establishment Republican who supported Mitt Romney in 2008
and 2012. Like so many of his peers, he was clueless about the unsound
economic condition of the country in the last Bush years. He
enthusiastically supported the TARP bailouts and complained about the "free-
market purists" who he saw as too simpleminded in dealing with the economy.
Cain's hostility to free markets should come as no surprise as he served as
Chairman of the Board of the Kansas City Federal Reserve Bank before getting
into national politics. Chairman Cain's ideal third party would never be
successful because he would offer more of the same Establishment policies
based on very limited economic understanding. If his goal is to create a
successful new party, he needs to actually look at where the Republicans
went wrong; he would have to start listening to Ron Paul. | l*****7 发帖数: 8463 | 12 民主误国?

From an outright libertarian, the headline seems contrary; but Ron Paul's
affirmation that "pure democracy is dangerous" critically confirms what
Romney accidentally admitted: that enabling the majority to dictate the
minority is a problem when the majority are receiving a [government] check.
Bloomberg TV's Betty Liu looks a little shocked when the thoughtful Paul
confirms bluntly that the reelection of Obama is driven simply by 'the
people' being on the 'receiving end' of government benefits and that the US
is "so far gone; we're over the cliff already." From the lack of credibility
in Washington to GOP's 'acceptance' of higher taxes and why he quit
Congress, Ron Paul succinctly reminds many of the true state of the union in
which we live... "As long as you think we have to please the world and run
this welfare state, all we will argue about is who will get the loot."
