Why Do I Hate Asian People?
Not hate, but dislike as a whole.
Let me try to clear up my opinions- I dislike people who are racist, sexist,
have hate against gay/lesbians,etc.
I am more liberal than conservative, and have pity for the Illegal Aliens
coming into this country, and understand why they do so.
I go to a good school, which has a majority of asians, and I have many asian
friends, whom I truly like and wouldn't wish the worst upon.
But...I just feel as though I dislike most of their culture. After watching
The Cove, I found myself loathing everyone who was Japanese, and didn't feel
too much heartache because of the tsunami (which I truly wish on no one,
and I realize how horrible it was- but when it occured, I couldn't help but
wonder "The oceans payback, maybe?).
I thought I was jealous of their accomplishments- such as honor roll, many
APs, etc- but I would seriously not study that hard.
I just feel as though all they think about it education, and work- which is
important, but have other priorities, you know?
I also hate the over-done nationalism. "Asian pride", "i'm smart cuz i'm
asian", "I have asian parents so a B means an F".
I am a smart student, took about 5 AP classes in high school, maintained a B
average (3.5), got a 1960 on the SAT....and I feel as though this is dumb
compared to what many "Asians" are getting.
I don't think it's jealousy, because I am not jealous of their strict family
life...although I do feel like they are taking up so many jobs/college
spots.
I know this sounds ignorant, and racist....and it may very well be...but is
there any reason I feel this way?

I liked Lemon's statement the best. I'm so sorry that happened to you,
especially over something you had no control over.
The Asian friends I do have are humble, fun, don't do the whole "I'm smart
b/c i'm Asian" thing,etc.
I think it's just the stereotypes Asians create for themselves that I hate-
thinking B's aren't good enough, being really critical about other people,
making people "honorary asians" just because they're smart, etc.

Audrey- Research the cove. It's not fictional. It's an ongoing battle with
the Japanese government killing hundreds/thousands of dolphins daily (
accusing them of eating all the fish) and feeding it to their own people.
The fish is often filled with mercury, and this fish is fed to school
children, who cannot reject the food because the lunch there is mandatory.
...Since I actually feel pity for the Japanese people (the people who are
unaware of what is even going on), I can't hate all asians. Like lemon said,
it's just a few things in common i've seen in the many Asians i've
encountered. | m********5
