photos Thursday of Mabini Reef (Johnson South Reef) showing China’s
reclamation activities on the disputed area.
“This series of photographs, which were released by the DFA and gathered
from Philippine intelligence sources, shows in stages the extensive
reclamation by China on Mabini Reef (Johnson South Reef),” the DFA said in
a statement.
“These actions are considered destabilizing and in violation of the
Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the South China Sea (DOC) and
international law,” it said.
The DFA on Wednesday said that it had filed a diplomatic protest against
China on April 4, 2014 for building a possible airstrip in the disputed area.
China claims the entire South China Sea, including parts of the
Philippines 200-nautical mile exclusive economic zone.

天鲸号由天航局投资并联合上海交通大学、德国VOSTA LMG公司进行设计，由招商重工
（深圳）有限公司建造，自2008年4月28日开工，建造周期历时21个月。该项目是中国
交通建设股份公司与招商局集团两大央企联手振兴中国重型装备制造业的力作。“天鲸
号”装机功率、疏浚能力均居亚洲第一、世界第三。
“天鲸号”长127.50m，宽23.00m，吃水5.5m，最大挖深－30m，最大排泥距离6000m，
配备多种当前国际最先进的疏浚设备，生产能力4500m³/h，雄冠亚洲。并且具有
无限航区的航行能力和装驳功能，灵活机动，适用于各种海况的大型疏浚工程。
“天鲸号”装备亚洲最为强大的挖掘系统，绞刀功率达到4000kw，不仅可以疏浚粘土、
密实沙、碎石，还可以开挖耐压为40兆帕的岩石，比如花岗岩。它的建造将改变人们清
除海底岩石的方式，可大大减少海底爆破工程的数量，增大工程安全系数，也可减少对
海洋的污染。
