发帖数: 40 | 1 A married couple from China who were researchers at the University of
Missouri have been identified as the victims of a drowning at a Branson
hotel swimming pool.
The bodies were discovered in the Days Inn pool early Sunday. Friends told
police the couple went to the pool around 9:45 p.m. Saturday. Police said
the cause of the drowning is unknown but that there is no sign of foul play.
The Branson Police Department identified the victims as Fanjun Meng, 29, and
Chunyang Zhang, 26, of Columbia.
Both were from China and were working in the anatomic pathology lab at the
University of Missouri-Columbia. Meng was a visiting scholar and his wife,
Zhang, was a research specialist, according to information at the university
's website.
Meng was working on research looking at a possible link between pesticides
and Parkinson's disease.
Meng and Zhang were found drowned at about 12:30 a.m. Sunday at Days Inn in
Branson.
Meng and Zhang were removed from the pool, and efforts to revive them were
unsuccessful.
The police said the investigation is ongoing as to the cause of the drowning
but had said earlier there was no sign of foul play.

FW: (中文版)致密苏里大学全体学生学者、哥伦比亚全体华人同胞的一封信
密苏里大学各位学生、学者，哥伦比亚全体华人同胞：
2011年7月的第一个周末，当我们正在尽情享受盛夏的美好时光时，两位密苏里
大学的学者不幸溺水身亡，永远离开了这个世界。这两位中国学者分别是来自河南固始
县的孟凡军与他的妻子张春洋。当意外和死亡真实的发生在我们身边时，也许才让我们
真切的感受到生命的脆弱与可贵，并为之感到痛彻心扉。
孟凡军，刚刚通过答辩，将要获得博士学位，正值事业和学术的起步和发展阶
段；张春洋，年仅26岁，人生还有太多的美好等着她去细细品味。他们象我们中许多人
一样，勤奋踏实地工作学习，对生活充满了诚恳与希望。逝去的生命令所有喜爱着他们
的人们伤心而错愕，特别是将他们抚养成人的父母。
孟凡军和张春洋的家境并不富裕，从小生长在农村，父母含辛茹苦的将他们培
育成才，正欣喜的看着他们有所作为、回报父母的时候，却受到了如此沉重的打击！人
死不能复生，而由于双方家庭经济条件不宽松，昂贵的赴美费用和丧葬费用却成了父母
和亲人来美见孩子最后一面的最大障碍。 “一方有难，八方支援”是我们中华民族的
传统美德，让我们伸出援助之手，用爱心帮助这两个不幸的家庭度过难关！
为此，密苏里大学中国学生学者联谊会执委会即日起发起为孟凡军、张春洋亲
属募捐的慈善活动！
