"We do not determine how merchants or establishments are classified.
Merchants who accept Visa/MasterCard credit cards are assigned a merchant
code based on the merchant's primary line of business and the kinds of
products and services they sell.
Merchants such as Amazon may have multiple merchant category codes which are
used to classify different categories of purchases. In the past, Amazon has
used the book store merchant category code for the majority of its
purchases. However, it appears they are beginning to use alternate merchant
category codes for purchases that do not include books.
Unless the transaction is sent with an eligible merchant category code, are
unable to award Bonus ThankYou Points under your promotional offer.
