节都愚蠢的一个call:
I understand the sentiment
Of this post and the logic behind why we threw the ball, the play design is
also not a bad one against a defensive set like that the problem with that
call, and by call I mean the exact play we ran and not a hypothetical roll
out or any other read, is that we do not have the personel or experience to
run it effectively.
Slant plays like this are most of the time first read quick step back and
throw plays. I know people will rush here to scream at me for this but this
is not something that Russell excels at due largely to his height. Taller
QBs can make a throw like this off of one or two steps and rifle it over the
line. Russell has to drop back father and gain visibility and throw between
defenders in the line to reduce the chance of it getting knocked down, this
is a low percentage throw for him, it has absolutely nothing to do with him
lacking skill or not being elite so before you rush here to call me a
Russell hater please take that into consideration. This ball is thrown late
due to a longer drop back and russell needing to avoid a bat down. If he
throws this ball sooner (where it should have been in the route) it’s
caught at the one yard line and its Lockette 1 on 1 to get across the line,
however to make this throw Russell needs to rifle this ball right over the
head of the defender with very limited visibility and a high chance of it
getting batted, this is a very hard throw to make for a 5’10 Qb and a
stupid and unreasonable request from any OC, this is like asking Peyton
Manning to run a read option keeper.
Personell issue #2 the success of the play is dependent on Jermaine Kearse
out muscling Brandon Freaking Browner at the line of scrimmage with the
Super Bowl on the line (a Super Bowl he was denied playing in last year due
to a crappy NFL rule) this is just plain stupid… Stupid… Stupid. They are
asking Kearse to run through Brandon Browner and pick the DB so Ricardo
Lockette…. (I’m losing brain cells trying to even type this without
emotion) can catch a game winning pass thrown on a play we never ran with a
QB who has to throw it late.
This call feels like every Super Bowl failure trap that teams have fallen in
to, including Super Bowl XL. This is us abandoning what we do well for a
hypothetical matchup advantage. I’m in agreement that we don’t have to run
it there, I don’t agree that marshawn gets stuff I think he posterizes
that stacked line and drags 3 people screaming and crying I to the endzone
regardless however if you want a matchup advantage call something that works
, let russell scramble. They sold out to stop Marshawn so at least fake it
to him, this freezes the backers and if that end crashes then it’s a simple
russll rollout to the corner with two blockers, even with browner running
over kearse I trust russell to get the ball across there. If the end doesn’
t crash, look for an open target maybe fade to the corner or throw it away.
There is no universe where this was a good play call.
I believe with momentum and crowd noise and the pats on their heels in shock
in that situation we punch this in with marshawn no matter what but hey I’
d rather have that happen knowing we were just beaten than this. | A*****a 发帖数: 52743 | 2 Still a pathetic logic.
