My personal story - Miles vs. Saban and the irony (Posted on 11/7/10
at 11:28 a.m.)
I feel compelled to write this. Easier after a win of this magnitude, of
course, but here it is.
Many years ago, Saban - while at LSU - was recruiting a player at my
high school. I was thrilled to meet him and asked him if I could show
him something in my office that I was extremely proud of. He walked into
my office and I began to describe the meaning behind a picture frame
displayed proudly on my wall. I told the short-version story of how my
dad, my brother and myself attended the LSU-Alabama game when LSU
defeated Alabama for the first time in Tiger stadium in 30 years (The
Irony). My brother ordered a picture from Tiger Rag showing an aerial
view of Tiger Stadium and a huge arrow showing where I sat with my Dad
and Brother. My ticket stub was framed with the picture. My brother gave
it to me as a Christmas present. All tiger fans, I am sure, can
appreciate this special moment when you can fondly remember an LSU game
with your Dad and family members. I told Coach Saban this quick story
and how special of a moment that was for me. I basically thanked him. He
looked at the picture and without saying a word...walked out of my
office. I felt as if I was just waisting his time.
Fast forward to a couple years ago. It was summertime and I was at a
baseball field watching my son play ball. Word spread that at the park
that extremely hot day was Coach Les Miles. Sure enough, he was there
watching his son play baseball. He was wearing shorts, a soaking wet t-
shirt and had his shoes off, feet propped up on the chain-link fence. I
waited for his son's game to finish, and then approached him, greeted
him, and made a small request. You see, it was Father's Day, and I asked
Les Miles that if I got my dad on the phone, would he wish my dad a
"happy father's day?" Coach Miles looked at me and with intensity said,
"Get him on the phone." I began dialing. My dad answered, and I said,
"Dad, someone wants to talk to you." I handed Coach Miles the phone and
he introduced himself, wished my dad a Happy Fathers Day, and went on to
hold a conversation with him.
This morning I personally understand why the players want to play for
coach Miles. For the same reason that I personally want him to
succeed...because my father and I mattered to him on that extremely hot
and humid summer day.
I want the Tigers to win and I know his job is to make sure that
happens. But, no matter what happens - win or lose, eating grass or not
- I will always be a fan of Les Miles, the man.
另一个人的故事
Nick's last year: I was in BTR for a week visiting friends and ran into
NS coming out of Gino's. Me: "hi coach Saban, glad you are here."
Nothing.
Les Miles first year: I flew in right before hurricane. Me and my buddy
from LSU law and my wife having coffee outside of CC's coffee shop on
corporate by movie theater. A small girl in window making funny faces at
us. We thought it was cute, we interacted with her, made faces back,
etc. Got up to leave and walking to car. A man comes out in LSU jacket
with woman who is obviously his wife. And the girl. I recognize him but
frick, man, I can't place him, he is just really familiar. I think maybe
he is someone who i met through my dad, so I turn around and walk back
to him as he is coming out and I hold out my hand to introduce myself
and I say, "hi, i'm so and so and you look really familiar. have i met
you or do you work with my dad?" and he says, "well hi son, I don't
think so. Les, Miles, happy to meet you." and i am immediately saying to
myself holy shite what a douche bag move I just made and he saves me by
saying the following: "you know, "so and so (my name)," you are very
fortunate to live here where people are so nice and families just can go
hang out in a coffee shop and meet people, its a wonderful place and a
blessing. My family loves it here and we are grateful to you. I'm sure
we will meet again." and thats was that, he walked off. And I just stood
there in awe and like the dumbarse I was (of course caveat, I lived in
DC then and wasn't keeping up with the new coach's appearance and who he
really was, etc, I was still reeling from saban).
I think that sums it up. Thats the real les miles, when he first came to
lsu, and i think he is pretty much still that man. |

说的是他和他那里的city council吵架, 因为他不想付property tax, 说I am nick
saban, i am famous, i shouldn't need to pay property tax...

当年我在ferguson center吃饭，他有人给跟他合影，他怕影响到我们吃饭还特意跑过
来道歉，而且听说
他学他老爹从来不fire别人，结果就是自己被fire了。
挑教练就像挑老板，能找到人品好学术强的当然好，找不到还是找能力强比较职业的吧
。且不说这些小故事
真假，环境不同人的反映会不同（你正在招一个很重要的人突然被拉倒不相关的地方听
个不相关的故事有啥
反应？），就算我你全是真的就说明Miles好么？我想更多LSU fans希望哪怕他不那么
nice也把最后几秒
钟的比赛给控制好吧。

saban人品不好，这也不是一天两天的事了。以前没来bama之前就这样。bama fan真得
不需要太敏感。我还是很佩服saban训练和场上指挥的，但是，他不会是我敬仰的教练
之一。以前觉得PC不错，但是也是被表面现象所迷惑了。 |

我看鳄鱼的扇子赛季刚开始的时候也不少
我看buckeye的水量在被wisc 扁了以后更多了。
你要好好提高自己的素质，从身体上心理上知识上都提高。
