According to Newell, Stills, 19, was arrested on suspicion of misdemeanor
driving under the influence at 2:10 a.m. and Jefferson, 19, was arrested on
suspicion of interference with the official process about 20 minutes later.
Both arrests occurred in the 700 block of Jenkins Avenue, north of campus
corner. Newell said both were booked into Cleveland County Detention Center
and posted bond.
Stills and Jefferson, both from the San Diego area, were starters as true
freshmen for the Sooners last season.
Stills, from Encinitas, Calif., started all 14 games and was OU’s second-
leading receiver behind Ryan Broyles. Stills finished the season with 61
catches for 786 yards and five touchdowns. In the Fiesta Bowl, he reeled in
eight catches for 73 yards.
Jefferson, a native of Chula Vista, Calif., who like Stills enrolled early
last spring, won the starting nickelback job in the preseason. He ended the
season with 65 tackles, two interceptions and two sacks and was named the co
-Big 12 Defensive Freshman of the Year along with Oklahoma State linebacker
Shaun Lewis.
Under coach Bob Stoops, similar infractions have usually resulted in one-
game suspensions. The Sooners are scheduled to open up the 2011 season with
Tulsa, then travel Sept. 17 to Florida State.
