After this week's Ohio State drama with Jim Tressel and Terrelle Pryor,
Buckeye fans may soon get to relax for the time being. The NCAA is rumored
to be near an investigation into the Oregon Duck football program for
violations as well. Although the school is also rumored to be "shocked if
the alleged investigation is to be true."
In case you have briefly paid attention to this college football
offseason, you may have missed the Will Lyles scandal back in March. When
Oregon allegedly paid Will Lyles, from "Complete Scouting Services," $25,000
for his recruiting services back in 2009-10. Also noted is the fact that
the payment happened shortly after Texas recruit Lache Seastrunk signed his
letter of intent to Oregon over many other top football programs. Which led
to an NCAA investigation into the situation at Oregon.
The investigation is rumored to become public in the next week or so
about Oregon athletics. Though here are what people seem to be saying about
the Oregon investigation in the coming days or week. That it mainly will
focus on "HUGE" recruiting violations. Also that the Oregon investigation
may possibly make Ohio State's NCAA sanctions look like "child's play" in
comparison.
Only if the allegation of an NCAA investigation into Oregon is true. With
the NFL having a lockout, the NCAA looks like they want to make headlines
by cleaning out all the dirty programs this year. This story may just be
beginning, but I'm still very uncertain to believe this allegation or not.
That is why I included the denial fact of "Oregon would be shocked" if the
investigation occurs. After the Ohio State findings, every NCAA athletic
team should be on high alert.
