UPDATE IV: Tim May of the Columbus Dispatch is reporting that Urban Meyer
will be announced as the new coach of the Ohio State Buckeyes next week.
May cites "two well-placed sources" in his report. "But the sources also
said final terms for a deal -- such as length of contract and financial
remuneration -- have not been decided, despite recent reports to the
contrary," he writes." Also, the sources said that though interim head coach
Luke Fickell has not been in the loop, he will be taken care of when or if
Meyer accepts the job. In what capacity, the sources weren't sure."
While ESPN is reporting that no deal is final, we're just bringing you
updates on what is being reported elsewhere, as Rumor Central is bound to do.
UPDATE III: It seems that Urban Meyer is indeed the apple of Ohio State's
eye after all. This comes from ESPN Cleveland.
"Ohio State first contacted Urban Meyer about becoming its next football
coach this summer and has since conducted its pursuit of him via three
members of the school's board of trustees, multiple sources confirmed on
Tuesday," the site said. "Meyer has not signed a contract with OSU, sources
said, because he wants to be respectful of interim coach Luke Fickell and
delay any formal announcement until after the Buckeyes' game at Michigan on
Saturday."
No wonder why Meyer said we won't hear from him for a couple of days.
