In a thousand years, it is absolutely certain that there will no longer
be Goldman-Sachs or Morgan Stanley, McKinsey or BCG, Microsoft or Google.
In a thousand years, it is almost certain that there will no longer be
the United States of America or the European Union.
In a thousand years, it is uncertain whether there will still be the Roman
Catholic Church or Harvard University.
But in a thousand years, action potentials will, with absolute certainty,
continue to propagate according to the Hodgkin-Huxley equation; and the
primary visual cortex will, with absolute certainty, continue to consist
of ocular dominance columns.
