FORT LEE — An assistant in a Fort Lee medical office has been charged with
sexually assaulting two patients, authorities announced today.
According to Bergen County Prosecutor John L. Molinelli, two females called
authorities last month to report that they had been inappropriately touched
by an employee at the Central Avenue office of SBK Medical Group.
One told police that 29-year-old Gung Kim had touched her breasts and
vaginal area during a procedure on Dec. 21, and another reported that,
during a Dec. 29 visit, Kim "performed a procedure upon her that was not
requested nor authorized" and involved the touching of her vaginal area,
Molinelli said.
According to authorities, Kim was left alone with the women during both
incidents, and the women were unaware that he was not a licensed nurse or
physician.
A Metuchen resident, Kim is also employed by the Edison Kidney Center, owned
by medical firm Edison Nephrology, where he has worked since September. The
Fort Lee office is an associate of the firm.
He was arrested on Wednesday by members of the Fort Lee police and the
Bergen County Prosecutor's Special Victims Unit. He is charged with single
counts of sexual assault and criminal sexual contact, and is being held at
the Bergen County Jail in lieu of $50,000 bail.
