A Sandia National Labs scientist was arrested recently because he allegedly
stole laboratory research and shared it with China.
Jianyu Huang is being accused of stealing research belonging to the U.S.
that he claimed was his own original research that he shared with several
Chinese universities. He went online to share the data with the country’s
state-run schools.
Sandia National Labs said that he did not have access to classified national
security information.
The lab said that Huang was fired in April for removing a company-owned
laptop from the facility.
Sandia is known for its nuclear research, as well as the disposal of the U.S
. nuclear weapons program’s hazardous waste. The company is a subsidiary of
Lockheed Martin Corporation.
Huang started working on nanotechnology at a Sandia Labs research center
that focuses on nanotechnology five years ago.
Huang has been indicted on five counts of federal program fraud, and one
count of false statements, according to court papers.
Lab workers are not allowed to take any lab equipment on international trips
without approval. Sandia released a statement on Monday saying it expects
all employees to follow procedures.
Huang’s indictment in May was sealed until Monday, and he was arrested for
the charges over the weekend.
He will be arraigned on the charges Tuesday, and remains in federal custody. | j****y

（联合早报网讯）美国一名华裔科学家涉嫌盗取纳米研究资料，与多间中国大学分
享，日前遭美国逮捕。
中央社报道，美国联邦政府表示，山迪亚国家实验室（Sandia National Labs）研
究员黄建于（Jianyu Huang，译音）任职期间涉嫌盗取研究资料，并与多家中国的大学
分享，已遭到收押。
美国电视台KRQE-TV报道，黄建于上周末被捕，面对5项联邦计划诈欺罪名与1项申
报不实罪名。
山迪亚国家实验室表示，黄建于已在4月5日因违反规定遭到开除。他在任职期间未
曾接触机密国安资料。
报道说，他在5年前开始在山迪亚国家实验室的纳米研究中心工作。
根据起诉书，黄建于盗取美国纳米科技研究资料，谎称为自己所有，并透过网络将
资讯与多家中国的大学分享。
黄建于同时涉嫌违反规定，将公用手提电脑带离实验室，并就此事对实验室的反间
谍人员说谎。
黄建于在5月被起诉，但直到上周末被捕，外界才知道此事。
