朋友的小孩将上高中，未来想成为临床医生。
高中junior and senior有majors选修课，请问Biological Sciences 和Bio Medical
Engineering与大学医学生有关吗？选哪门或2门都读？
另外学校设立了以下program-Gateway to Medicine program,
是否应该申请呢？

Video Highlight of Gateway to Medicine
Upon admission to Tech, students and parents may opt to apply for the
Gateway to Medicine program. There is a mandated pre-freshmen course in the
summer between 8th and 9th grade where the students will take coursework to
satisfy the NYSED requirements for Art & Music.
The program exposes students to many educational and cultural opportunities
inside and outside the classroom. Gateway is the first high school program
in New York City and one of the few in the nation to offer access to DNA
laboratories with cutting-edge technology for students and faculty learning.
Rather than the standard eight periods per day, Gateway students have nine.
The program also emphasizes the development of reading and writing skills
in joint English and Social Studies culminating in the AP World history exam
in 10th grade*. |

如果是medicial school的话不是BME, 建议纯粹上Biological Sciences.
申请那个Gateway program,对将来申请Med School会有帮助。

不过 你知道我想干啥 我在初中时候就比较有概念了当时申请高中时候也考虑过这个因素
然后到了高中我目标更明确了！

学，好MedSchool的几率。

man, asian parents should really leave their children alone and let them
develop their own interests and talents....
here the parents pretty much planned the kid's whole life..
sadness.

in college even before they started freshman year, asking if they want
their children to be doctors what kind of courses should they take....
so i take it back, not only asian parents, all the uptight control freak
parents should leave their children alone! |

大部分学校收AP的学分， 即便收了 有些学校也得要求他们从上一些课
有些大学根本都不收AP 学分的

undergraduate degree, and just get good GPAs and good scores in MCAT and
LSAT, write good essays and have good recommendations. Of course biology
courses and chemistry courses will help a lot. Take those in college, but
not in high school.
but again, with the prepration that this parent is giving to his/her kid,
the kid will be well prepared for any medical school.

申请要求之一是家长和学生共同签署statement of commitment，当家长的当然要了解
清楚再下笔画符，对吧？
