Y******u 发帖数: 1912 | 1 Can't hold it anymore. Always feel so amusing when many people are talking
about how bad Japanese food are or American food is just burger and fries.
First, Let's talk about it objectively.
Ask anyone from NYC or other international cities like HK what most
expensive restaurants are. The answer is either French or Japanese. For some
Japanese places (most likely small ramen or bar restaurant) in NYC, lines
are hours or even longer. In such an open and competitive market with full
dine out culture, it is hard to image how can Japanese food taste bad. You
think 8 millions NY citizens are all idiots?
Same thing applies to American food. Don't be fooled by fast food or chain
restaurants. There are tons of Michelin starred restaurants are American
cuisine. Oh, never tried really good burger? such a pity.
Now talk about my personal experience.
If I dine out 7 times a week, in average the ratio is 2 Japanese, 1 korean,
1 southeast asian (like Thai or pho), 1 Chinese, 1 American/French/Italian,
1 fusion/other.
I have no reason to show off to anyone since I eat with girlfriend or close
friends. And most of my friends here have similar eating habit.
Lastly, there is no rank of cuisine. Any culture with enough population
could have tasty and interesting cuisine. If you stay in US and still only
eat/like Chinese food, I feel sorry for you. |

j***k 发帖数: 2719 | 22 I could recommand yakitori or sukiyaki, but that's like someone recommands
General Tsao's chicken or hot and sour soup to you and ask you to order them
next time you're having chinese. it is really not that helpful.
if you would like to have a good expereince with Japanese food, i would pick
a traditional japanese restaurant and go for the "Omakase" menu, which
simply means "please take care of me". The restaurant owner would serve you
with what he thinks is the best reflection of the spriit of the restaurant
and his cooking... But just make sure that you order this option in a true
japanese restarant owned by Japanese. ;-)
One quick trcik to spot a fake Japanese restautant owned by Chinese is to
see how they place the chopsticks. Fake Japanese restaurant always place
chopstick vertically, pointing to the center of the table, just like how
they would in chinese restaurants. The true Japanese ones always have the
chopstick pointing sideways...
