the salary is pretty good in CA and NOVA, DC areas.
The base salary starts around $45-$50/hr, the highest hourly salary I have
heard is $75/hr. Some of RDH works on commissions, it is really depends on
what kind of office and what kind of Dr you work for. the commission could
start as low as only around 300/day to over 600/day.
Although the job market is not so good as before, especially for the new
graduates.

associates there now. |

Normally they can get only 1/4-1/3 of what they make daily.
Most Asian or Mid-east dentists earn much less than American dentists.
In my area, american dentist normally make 3 times than RDH.

when her RDH asked for salary increase from 32/hr to 35/hr, she fired her

In my area, nurse has nothing to do with RDH.
RDH works in dental office, nurse works in hospital.
nurse can never be in charge of RDH, unless he/she works in dental office as
office manager.
In that case, he/she need to be very familiar with all dental works and good
at dealing insurance. he/she does not work as a nurse anymore.
I don;t know how you determine the word "Boss", but obviously, your
classmate is not doing a nurse job now.

Since I was a dentist and now a nurse, I know many of these two careers... |

Therefore, it is very important for RDH to find a nice DDS and work in a
right place.
There are lots of fulltime RDH that get benefits and 401k match.
Sometimes, RDH can be considered as FT for only 3.5 days (9hrs/day). |
