we have qualify exam, which will be at the beginning of the fall and spring
quarters. So each year, there are twice. Currently, the qualify exam is
difficult, at least to me. There are five core
courses: architecture, OS, computer language, complexity, algorithm. You can
find the text books of these courses from the professors' website. Different
quarter will have different professor to teach. From fall 2003, almost 1/3

in the second day, there are two exams.
exam papers. Whether you can pass depends on your final total score and score
for each exam. This means, if your total score is very high, however, if the
score of one exam is really bad, lower than average. You might also fail the
qualify.
