The instructions given here are applicable to at&t Sumsung Focus phones. If
your Sumsung Focus phone is from other carriers, the instructions may work
only if you can have a right version of Sumsung Diagnosis App installed on
your phone in advance. For at&t customers who never unbranded their Sumsung
Focus phones & always waited patiently for any upgrades from at&t & never
played any trick in order to get any upgrade sooner, they should find the
unlocking procedure is much simpler than what they thought - everything can
be done by several tappings.

Step 1 Check Diagnosis App version on your phone
1.1 Navigate to phone
1.2 Dial ##634#
1.3 You should see version 1027, 1122 or 0103 at the top. The version is
the compile-date without year. So version 0103 is actually newer than 1122.
Versions from before 2010/10/27, such as 0929, do not seem to work. If you
have such an old version of the Diagnosis App, you will need to follow the
instructions given at A1 to get your Diagnosis upgraded before you can move
on to Step 2.
Step 2 Launch IE from your phone and visit http://windowsphonehacker.com/windowbreak
Follow instructions given at the page carefully to unlock your phone.
Done!
Now, you have a fully unlocked Sumsung Phone!

A1. Upgrade to the latest Diagnosis App
A1.1 Uninstall Diagnosis from the App List on you phone, if you have it
installed before.
A1.2 To re-install Diagnosis
A1.2.1 Navigate to phone
A1.2.2 Dial ##634#
A1.2.3 If version of Diagnosis App is still 0929, You will need to follow
instructions given at A2 to flash your phone.

A2 Flash your at&t Sumsung Focus Phone back to its factory ROM
Warning 1: do this only if instructions given at A1 cannot help you get a
right version of Diagnosis
Warning 2: following instrution will erase all the data from your phone,
including all your email and other accounts, backup all the data before
continue.
A2.1 Lauch your desktop browser and visit http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1131022. Download a right version of ROM from the page.
A2.2 Follow the instructions given at post #9 of above thread to flash your
phone
A2.3 Launch Zune and follow the instructions to get your phone upgraded to
Mango. After this, you may need to follow instructions given at A1 again to
upgrade to the latest Diagnosis App.
