标 题: Who wants your kid to be engineer?

Most of the people on this boards are engineers, I want to know, do you want
your kid to be engineer when he/she grows up? Why and why not? |

math/science trainning similar to kids from China. Because when kids go to
grad. school, they need to compete with half of the students who come from
foreign countries like India and China. And those kids are mostly the
smartest kids from their country. So I would say, to be an engineer in US
will be tough in the future. If my kid grow up, I may prefer them to choose
some profession which are not easily to be outsourced to other countries. MD
is an obvious choice.

sad and pretending life not knowing how things works and how things are
built. Kids grew up to be phoney adults, even successful people like GW
and Chua, spouting silly stuff and lies.
You see these people are often on my mind today. |

这个职业除了累一点也没啥，只是我觉得女孩子搞这个，每天围着计算机啥的太辛苦对
身体也不好，相比之下做医生啥的学的时候辛苦，做的时候要好多了。
不过话说回来，将来孩子做什么，事实上我们做父母的也做不了主。

发帖数: 13135 | 9 我觉得挺好的。倒是男得学，找老婆就要主动些，毕竟男多女少。天下没有哪个挣钱的
工作能轻松的，医生更辛苦。工程师很多上班时间可以比较弹性，医生就不行了。不少
人就算周末不上班，还要会病人的电话。

发帖数: 1064 | 11 Engineer挺好的。男的女的学都不错。太笨了也学不来。她能学好至少说明她不笨而
且喜欢，还能养活自己。这样我就满意了。大部分学engineer的人也比较内敛自律勤奋
，喜欢思考，爱学习钻研，有不少优点。如果能到搞发明创造，或者能把idea变成产品
这个整套流程都做下来，自己开公司啥的，就更好了。
在美国，engineering的教育还是很advanced.她如果选择做engineer,接触的东西比我
们当年在中国的要早，要广，要深，要有趣得多。我和老公都是engineer, 在职业上还
能给她不错的指导，避免走弯路，很好很好的一件事情。
