lipitor is one of the few drugs with low adverse effect even overdose. if
anyone abuse any drug for long time, s/he would be screw for sure. i think
it is possible to find non statin hmg-coa reductase inhibitor, but it is
very difficult to have the same efficacy and safety. that is why it is
still the best selling drug ah, but its patent is running off in a few years
, and Pfizr's stock will take another hit

I don't think so as very few studies were performed aiming at developing non
-statin compounds. The reason I suppose is that if one can make money with
statins, then why shall he spend more money and time on non-statins. The
only advantage they need is "oops, mine is a little safer than yours" :)
