I believe I was in class B at 8500ft with clearance that time, though one
may fly at 7500ft to be under the shelf near downtown.

It's KGWS, DA was not a problem, but by local procedure, one is to fly very
close to the mountain/cliff on the left after take-off; and landing there
has two options: a long final where you cannot see the runway until the last
half mile, or a normal pattern where you make the base-to-final turn
seconds before you are about hit the cliff.

需要事先把地形看熟, 而且复飞的话前面两里外迎面又是11000ft的山, 也需要熟知地
形从Colorado River的峡谷里转弯飞出去才行. 每次去那里都是复习short-field
take-off/landing的机会.

At max weight, 5000ft elevation, normal temperature, no wind:
Takeoff: 1300ft ground roll, 2200ft to clear 50ft obstacle
Landing: 800ft ground roll, 1500ft to clear 50ft obstacle
But these are book numbers, in reality one always needs more distance.

Book numbers were flown by the test pilot under ideal condition with a brand
new airplane...

不是每个人都做得到。
比如着陆滑跑，距离和速度平方成正比。速度控制的不好，哪怕多那么几节，结果也会
