1.among the 7 listed players, only the 2nd place for U2000 is from ICC.
U2000 champion and runner of U2200 are from topspin.
2. there is a say: u need to be at least 150-200 higher to win one
national rated event.
But Tom Ruan, i used to play at PA club 10 years ago, he has been
playing in 1900s for a while, sometimes it was hard for him to beat
guys U2000 at bay area...
a few years back, Liu, Xuan from LA also won U2000 national champion,
but he was still around 1940 afterwards,(he went up over 2000 of course
after he won the title, but dropped back)
3. the higher level, the less gap there will be since there are fewer
players in that level, i mean guys over 2200, guys over 2300 should be
the same level.
Why it is tough to move up at CA for guys in 1700s, 1800s, 1900s, 2000s?
since there are so many here and so many different styles too, also so
many upcoming fast-improving kids. | c****1

USATT tournaments after they stuck at their ratings for years.
Also there are so many unsanctioned tournaments in bay area,
ppl got enough exciting.
But glad to see the old guns like Tom Ruan, Joey Hu still won
the national titles after they stuck in their level for many years. | h**d
发帖数: 5161 | 3 其实拿冠军也有很大的运气成分。遇上哪些对手，结果会很不一样。经常看到一些人拿
了高级别的冠军，在低级别却早早被淘汰。
比如这次U1500的冠军，他参加了U1100-U1500，拿下了U1500和U1200，其他3个打得都
不太好。
加州去比赛的人多，冠军自然多。 | D***e

我有次在圣路易斯打比赛，U1800半决赛碰到一枚老印，嘴里不断大喊fight，还是被我
灭了
然后我决赛赢了，拿了冠军
后来一看内老印居然拿了U2000的冠军，我说输的咋不服气呢

我当时就后悔了，不该报第二天的RR，应该多报几个event，内老印虽然不服，但是当
时，打几次，我赢他几次，hoho
本来想打第二level拿钱，结果很多人就打周六比赛，周日人少，我成第一level了，导
致我跟杨世纲正式比赛都打了一场
