以上是一封华裔老板对于我博后申请的来信，信发出很快就有了回应，估计老板备有回
信的模板。
这个老板估计不是第一代移民，因为名是英文，姓是中文拼音，本科博士都在美国读的。
请各位高手分析一下老板为什么提以上6个问题，并想要一个什么样的答案。
以下是本人尝试的回答，请各位不吝赐教

Thanks for your reply. I am very glad to give you the information you need.
1) how is your English (speaking & writing)?
I have stayed in an international lab group and mentored by an PI who can
only speak English for more than 2 years, and believe there is little
barrier for me to communicate in English with them.I have written 6 first-
author paper in English, 5 of them have been published and listed in my C.V.
And I gave poster presentations in **Meeting, 2011 International ** Meeting
, 2011 ** meeting. We can probably talk over phone and you can know more
about my English.
2) how many people in your lab?
Currently, there are 2 post-docs, 2 graduate student, 1 exchange student(me)
, 2 technicians, 1 PI assistant and the PI in our lab, the total is 9
including the PI. I am the only Chinese in my lab.
3) what is your visa status and if accepted, when can you start?
I am currently with J1 Visa, we can talk about the potential visa statue. I
can start from June or July next year.
4) what is your long-term goal in 5 years?
If I can join your lab as a post-doc. I hope to have papers published in
high impact journals and get post-doc fellowship in 5 years.
5) what are you 3 major strengths & weaknesses?
这是个比较变态的问题， 因为每个人都很难对自己做出客观的评价。我觉得他可以从
我以前的老板得到更客观的回答。

6) can you tell me more about your molecular & cell biology background.
这个问题也在简历上说的很清楚了，而且有文章发表，如果他有兴趣大可以自己看看我
发表的文章。
望高手指点。
给人感觉这个老板一付居高临下的吊样，根本没有好好看我的简历。 但为了找工作，
我想还是应该先忍忍，进一步了解下这个人和这个实验室，毕竟是个大实验室，有很多
文章和基金。有些人也不大注意细节，给人不好的第一印象，但是交往多了发现也很

My writing English is excellent, you can read my published 6 first author
paper for detail. And my spoken english is good without any communication
problem.
2) how many people in your lab?
There are 9 people in my lab (xxxxxx). I'm the main role in xxx and xxx
projects.
3) what is your visa status and if accepted, when can you start?
Currently I am holding a J1 Visa, we can talk about the potential visa
status. I can start from June or July next year or earlier depending on your
project needs. |

我第一感觉就是这老板有点zhuangbility
特别是第4，5个问题太人力资源了。。
比起你的回答，我更prefer楼上的回答，简洁明了，言多必失。你对第一个问题的回答
就有小小的语法语意错误。
第四个问题帮不了你，问题太坑爹。
第五个问题，我以前老板跟我说过他最欣赏能做independent research的人，隔壁中国
老板说过他最烦自己不用脑子的postdoc，现任老板有时候会表扬我很有passion。。。
仅供参考。缺点就不好说了，不同的老板taste不同啊。不过他问的很泛泛，你可以避
重就轻地谈谈，然后可以补充说一下自己已经意识到这些问题，正在改善。

博后确实越来越不好找，发了几百封陶瓷信没几个回的，要不说没位置。为数很少的几
个提出百般刁难的问题。还有个老板甚至要我读他发表的文章写个综述，当时找职位心
切，花一个星期时间写了发过去没回音。他妈的太坑跌了，可能是写的不够好，但是也
是认真去准备了的，还找美国人改了的啊。
楼上帮人帮到底，第4.5 个问题帮我出出主意，我想还是应该不卑不亢。第四个问题我
想就说说想发点高IF文章，多说了也无益。搞博后不久图发几篇大paper早日翻身。
第5个问题我不想做正面回答， 我想告诉他我很难对自己做出客观的评价，如果他想知
道可以问我的reference，大家觉得咋样。
第6个问题我想把简历上的介绍重复一下，并告诉他detail在发表的文章里。 |

To be honest, it is very difficult to list my strengths & weaknesses
objectively by myself. If you donot mind, please ask my references listed in
my CV, they would be glad to give you the answer you need.

I have studied the knowelge in molecular biology in my Ph.D class. And I
have researched in the molecular mechnisms of **. This project includes cell
culture, RNA/DNA isolation, cDNA generation, quantitative real-time RT-PCR,
Microarray, SiRNA and in

As my current boss received some emails asking for recommendation, he
introduced me to a famous PI in our field and we will arrange interview.
It seems to be very difficult to find a position when you work alone.

我给他回信了，没回音。估计没戏，这样的老板绝对有模板回求职信。也不知道要招设
么样的人？

有的人可能运气不好，时间长点，有的人运气好，时间短点。
真正有实力的人可能就不像咋这样找颇似到可了。
此外，我想发陶瓷信得大部分地方都不要人，这是不回的原因。老板收到简历也觉得莫
名其妙。

发帖数: 137 | 21 楼上说得有道理，我老板给我推荐了一个。还不错，我心里踏实多了。想着再找找，过
两个月还没结果就去老板推荐的地方。
此外，电面了几个地方，有两个地方说年后安排interview。 还有个老板说明年来我们
学校讲seminar，那时候见面谈。
机会总是有的，各位加油啊。
最近估计老板们都忙着过节，等thanksgiving 后再继续发。 |
