I think this letter is too simple, compared with the templates/examples on
this website. Would you please let me know your opinion of this letter?
Should I ask my advisor for a different support letter based on the examples

Maybe I should get a support letter from my advisor as following.

Support Letter
To Whom It May Concern:
This letter is written in support of a J-1 visa waiver for Dr. ××××
×, who has been employed at Department of ×××××, ***** University as a
research assistant since ××××.
Dr. ××××× is working on the research project of mechanisms of
×××××, which is the key for my whole project supported by National
Institute of Health grant. Therefore, his research assistant position is
guaranteed until ×××××.
Now he is applying for a waiver so that he may continue his current
research at *****. This will enable him to complete his current project as
well as accepting additional training prior to his independent academic
career when
he returns to China. I fully support Dr. ×××××’s application for a J-1
waiver so that he can change his visa from J-1 to H-1 by the United States
