I had only one 20-mile long so far at 10:00 pace.
Really want to have another 20-mile long run with
better pace (target 8:40), however given the fact
that CIM is only 2.5 weeks away and I have sour knees
and sour low-calves, I decided to give up the 2nd
20-mile long run today, hoping knees and calves
recover so that I can enter CIM in good shape.
I am very afraid that my knees won't have time to recover
if I do a 20-mile run this weekend.
After 10/3 San Jose RnR HM, my knees took 2-week to recover.
Since I don't have long training base, I have already tasted
knee pains every day as the result of sudden mileage increase
for newbies (from 0MPW to 40-50MPW in just 3 months).
07/2010 23,
08/2010 27, 10, 24, 51,
09/2010 16, 22, 43, 29,
10/2010 28, 37, 54, 49, 46,
11/2010 34, 34, 18(current week)
I have been warned many times on this board of not increasing
the mileage too soon. I am tasting the Ku Guo, but what the
hack, no pain no gain anyway. Let me just finish up CIM before
I care about my knees.
For example, every night, I cannot
stretch my legs freely otherwise triggers knee pains. I cannot
twist legs ANYTIME, otherwise, triggers knee pains as well.
These two weeks, my typical running pattern is Yi Que Yi Guai
for a whole mile or two before my knee pain is suppressed or
warmed up and dispersed before I can actually sped up to target
8:40 pace.
So at the end, do you experienced runners still suggest me
to run a 20-mile this weekend? I need advice here. Thanks. |
